The Mission of the Douglas Legacy Farm is provide a lifelong home for rescued horses as they provide a supportive role for individuals experiencing challenges in life.

The Douglas Legacy Farm was set aside as a trust in 2012 by Pearl A. Douglas as an equine rescue farm dedicated to serving veterans, and as a way to honor her late husband, Russell Douglas. Russell served in the Army Air Force during World War II as part of the 390th Bombardment Group. When World War II ended he returned to the family farm. Russell and Pearl were married in 1947. They spent their lives raising dairy cattle and dedicating themselves to community and church. Both Russell and Pearl lived to be 95 years of age.

The Pearl A. Douglas Trust is dedicated to caring for the horses entrusted to the Douglas Legacy Farm with the greatest of kindness and best of care. The trust does not buy or sell horses, nor does it breed horses. The horses live their days in harmony on an open pasture.

Benjamin Douglass

Benjamin C. Douglass was the great grandfather of Russell Douglas and the first to farm the Douglas(s) land. He joined the Connecticut 26th Volunteer Infantry, Company D in November, 1862. His Connecticut regiment, along with the 4th Wisconsin Infantry and regiments from other states, took part in the Siege of Port Hudson, May 23 - July 9, 1863. He settled in La Valle after mustering out of service on August 17, 1863. This is his story.
